Jim LaDue

A leader in solving complex waste challenges for manufacturing companies. Expert in extending the life cycle of industrial materials for beneficial reuse.

Jim LaDue is the Founder and President of Innovative Waste Strategies, LLC [IWS], a Massachusetts-based advisory and materials management firm specializing in the repurposing of industrial and commercial waste materials for beneficial reuse.

With nearly 40 years of combined experience in waste and waste-to-value, Jim is a recognized leader in developing and implementing strategies that transform waste into valuable resources. Earlier in his career, he played a pivotal role as Chief Operating Officer for a startup, the first of its kind to convert waste into an engineered alternative fuel [AEF] used to replace coal in cement kilns, paper mills, and utility power plants to produce heat and power. In that role, he led the company’s national expansion, overseeing market analysis, site selection, construction, and commissioning of new AEF manufacturing facilities, as well as securing key off-take contracts.

Today, Jim works across the entire value chain, partnering with industrial and commercial waste generators, waste-to-fuel processors, and end users of AEF, including some of the world’s largest cement producers, to design and implement beneficial-use and landfill-avoidance programs. He is also a trusted consultant to major private equity and consulting firms seeking expertise in waste-to-fuel markets, sustainability, and circular solutions.

Earlier in his career, from 1986 to 2004, he held leadership roles in business development and operations with Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI), Waste Management, Inc. (WMI), and privately held waste service companies, including one he founded and later sold to WMI in 1999.
